About the BIA of Philadelphia

Established in 1937, the Building Industry Association of Philadelphia has become a leader in the real estate development industry by taking on the big issues. The BIA is now recognized as the "go to" organization for information and advice from policy makers and elected officials. Many of our members hold positions of influence on various boards and commissions; others have been deeply involved in helping to craft policies in City Hall.

Ongoing goals include:

• Educating members through forums including the BIA's Annual Housing Conference.
• Working with the housing agencies and neighborhood Community Development Corporations to promote skilled and competent minority workers.
• Expanding the market for all housing, paying particular attention to policies that promote middle-income housing.
• Promoting housing affordability by reducing construction costs.
• Working with city government and agencies to remove barriers to re-investment in the neighborhoods.
• Building alliances with organizations that share our interests in reducing the tax burden, improving the schools, reducing gun violence, improving our mass transit system and promoting job growth.

When you join the BIA your membership also includes membership in the Pennsylvania Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders.
